paladin: oath of the people

“Rob? Tsk tsk tsk. That's a naughty word. We never rob. We just sort of borrow a bit from those who can afford it.”

Tenets of the People

Protect the Weak. From each according to their ability; you’re uniquely able to stand between the innocent and the violent and your oath compels you to do so.

Fight for Freedom. All beings deserve to live a free and self-actualized life. Encourage and help others to break the chains that hold them down.

Fairness Above All. Never take more than you need, and never deprive others when you have enough. On your watch, no one gets seconds until everyone has gotten some.

Oath Spells

Paladin level Spells

3 purify food and drink, sanctuary

5 calm emotions, knock

9 glyph of warding, leomund’s tiny hut

13 dimension door, fabricate

17 legend lore, passwall

Channel Divinity

When you take this oath at 3rd level, you gain the following two Channel Divinity options.

To Safety! On your turn or using your reaction you may call out to civilians, innocent bystanders, or small creatures and give them magical protection from harm. When you use your Channel Divinity this way, you may grant any number of CR 0 creatures that you can see the benefit of sanctuary for ten turns.

Get Behind Me! When a creature within 5 feet of you is targeted by an attack, you can use your reaction to grant a creature within 5ft of you full cover from the attacking creature until the start of your next turn. Then treat the triggering attack as if it had targeted you.

Eye of Justice

Beginning at 7th level, when you use your Divine Sense ability you may choose to also gain awareness of those who wilfully exploit others just as you sense the presence of celestials, fiends, and undead.

Castigating Warrior

At 15th level, once you’ve identified a creature as exploitative using your Eye of Justice ability, you gain advantage on attack rolls against that creature.

Take from the Rich and Give to the Poor

When you reach 20th level, you gain the ability to redistribute bodily health equitably. Whenever you expend a spell slot on Divine Smite, you may heal an ally for an amount equal to the radiant damage dealt if, after applying your attack’s damage, that ally has fewer hit points than the creature you attacked.
